CARMEN ZAMORANO-LLENA

Dr. Carmen Zamorano-Llena is Associate Professor of English at Dalarna University, Sweden, since 2008 and was previously lecturer in English at the University of Lleida, Spain (1999-2008). She holds a Bachelor's Degree in English from the University of Lleida, Spain, an MA in Translation from the University of Westminster, UK, and a PhD in English from the University of Barcelona, Spain, which focused on an analysis of postmodern feminist constructs of identity in the poetry of Fleur Adcock, Eavan Boland, Gillian Clarke, and Carol Rumens. She has published on contemporary Irish and British poetry and fiction, and is co-editor of The Aesthetics of Ageing: Critical Approaches to Literary Representations of the Ageing Process (Publicacions de Lleida, 2002), Urban and Rural Landscapes: Language, Literature and Culture in Modern Ireland (Peter Lang, 2011), and Transcultural Identities in Contemporary Literature (Rodopi, 2013). She is also General Editor of the international, peer-reviewed journal Nordic Irish Studies. In June 2006 she was granted a two-year Betriu de Pinós postdoctoral scholarship by the Catalan Agency for Research (AGAUR) for her project on postnationalist identity in contemporary Irish poetry. The results of this project were published in a number of peer-reviewed scholarly journals, and she also co-edited the collection of essays Representations of Irish Identity: A Postnationalist Approach(Peter Lang, 2010). Her project "Globalisation, Migration, and Communal Narratives of Belonging: Changing National Narratives in Contemporary Irish and British Fiction” received a three-year research grant (2011-2013) from the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet). She is president of the Nordic Irish Studies Network (NISN), and a member of the consolidated research group Grup Dedal-Lit (Lleida, Spain), the Research Centre for Ageing and Later Life (ReCALL), and European Network in Aging Studies (ENAS).
